Ste-Mar has over 30 years experience of carpentry and joinery with City and Guilds qualifications. Mark completed his apprenticeship in 1978 and embarked on a career within his chosen background. The path he took has resulted in a versatile craftsman who can compete in both the commercial and domestic arenas of carpentry as well as other areas of construction.

From 1980 until 1982 Mark relocated to France and gained knowledge of European styles of carpentry whilst residing and working in the Dijon area. Primarily Mark was engaged in the conversion of a commercial barge into a luxury 5* floating hotel utilising local techniques and materials which carried 32 passengers and 8 crew members. During this time he also undertook domestic carpentry to detailed specifications within the local area.

Between 1982 and 1998 Mark undertook high quality bar fitting in traditional methods using a wide range of materials varying from hardwoods (i.e. mahogany) with a French Polish finish to the more basic paint and laminate finishes. During this time Mark was also employed in the exhibition industry and travelled internationally constructing exhibition stands to high specifications as dictated by the individual clients and advising them on feasibility of designs and construction. In this area Mark was afforded a position of trust personally dealing with clients on behalf of his company, ensuring the clients satisfaction with the work completed by the team. On various occasions Mark was awarded runner up for the best stand of the show and was placed first at the Ideal Home exhibition in London Earls Court for his stand in 1998. This time allowed Mark to build on his existing joinery skills and add a wider range of expertise to his already comprehensive skill base.

Since 1998 Ste-Mar has concentrated on new builds, refurbishment and improvements within the domestic environment. Projects have ranged from private estates to the more humble abode; all the work carried out has been to the same high quality and care regardless of budget. Ste-Mar are aware that whilst it is gratifying to work for those who have unlimited budgets it is just as satisfying to complete a project for those working to a stricter budget. While Ste-Mars expertise can be seen within specialist projects such as traditional oak roofs where timbers are exposed and in character with the existing building they pride themselves on affording every client the same quality and service.

Ste-Mar also have experience of project managing allowing you the client a worry free venture when extending properties as well as undertaking new builds. Ste-Mar has gained contacts within the building industry enabling liaison with other trades in a competent and efficient manner thus ensuring a trouble free working environment.
